UFO via text message

 TUESDAY 25 MARCH 2014

About 20 mins after arriving at craft Debra received a text message that said

"Tuesday night craft.... Memerambi style"

 

(It was from Liz.  Yeah Liz is creating.)

Back in the room we were celebrating a birthday.

 Happy Birthday Toni

 So we sent Liz a couple of photos that said.

"Awesome.  Have some cake. So Glad you are Crafting."

Liz replied with "Oh yum!!! I could totally go some cake!!  LOL"

 

 Tash & Tracey offer Victoria some advice on quilt borders

So our evening continued.

We admired Gayle's adorable runner - very theme appropriate for our current weather

 The umbrella is covered in tiny french knots.

About 1 hour later another text message

"One side of my quilt is an inch longer than the other!!!!  Lone problem solving sucks LOL"

"Send a photo please"

About half an hour later 

"I found my inch... Some of my original seams in the disc section were a bit big... if I measure the inner square that's where the discrepancy is ... just means I have to measure every side every time"

"Yes that is true.  So glad you found it.  Can we please have a photo pretty please.??"  

So Liz finally sent us a progress photo 

"So far the only new bit is the white... starting the 2nd border now"  

The white makes it look so different.  Awesome.  What's next?

"Another border like the one on the other side of the white... then I'm thinking peeper before piano keys"

And about an hour later

"Tada" 

 So friends who are not with us physically - you can still join in UFO craft on Tuesday.  Even if you don't communicate via text, just set aside your Tuesday night & craft with us in spirit.  You never know just how much you will do.  

And of course if you ask for help we will give it.

Keep popping back.  I expect the next few weeks will be super busy too.

Hello 2014

My goodness, It is the end of March & this is our first UFO Crafters blog post.  tut... tut.

We have been busy, very busy indeed.  It does help when we have a deadline, doesn't it ladies???

Now where to start.... let me troll back through my photos to January....

Umm, no crafty photos, but I do know most of us were on holidays at some point.

Many of us took stitching, but the general concensus was that the stitching enjoyed the trip, but not much was finished.  That's Ok.

What about February??

Leanne came in with another finish.  Yes, this quilt is about F*VE years old apparently.  But it is now FINISHED!!

 Victoria came in with her beautiful cushion.

 Victoria also had a twister quilt top.  I believe this one is in the 'to quilt' pile now.

 

 We all ooohed and ahhhed over the stunning quilt made by members of the club and & Bev Dingwall to raffle for the upcoming quilt show.  It is a massive 87" square & just beautiful.

 Cecily completed her drunkard's path quilt with a beautiful soft colour scheme & unique layout.

 Tracey finished Cooper's Star Wars Quilt.  He is one excited boy & has granted permission for the quilt to be put into the quilt show.

 Later in the month, Victoria worked on the layout of her drunkard's path quilt.  We have nicknamed it "Mint Slice".  It is quite different to Cecily's above don't you think.

So all in all February was good.  I know there were more works done but I didn't get photos of them all.

Just Because

Now you have read about the party and the Gift for Cecily this will show you the close ups of the great stitcheries.

 Yes this may have caused tears. We have all been a bit worried about Cecily of late and decided as we couldn't fix the problem, we could make a quilt to make the problem seem a little better.

We all know Cecily LOVES her garden & her books, things that make her house a home, so we decided to focus on these beautiful things.  Most of our ladies stitched an embroidery - some for the 1st time ever and we pieced together this quilt.

Too funny not to share

For those of you who have crafted with us, this video will make perfect sense.

For those of you who craft with other women this video will make perfect sense.

For those of you who spend time in large groups of women this video will make perfect sense.

For those of you who are male - you probably won't appreciate this video.

My boys were at craft with me tonight.  My oldest (Mr 10) got a little bored and decided to video us.... 

 If you couldn't read his lips he says "its CRAZY"

CRAZY - nope, normal - yes.  There were only 10 of us there tonight, that's not crazy at all.

A few UFOs bite the dust...

 Short and sweet and a whole heap of photos.

First cab off the rank. 

 Leanne finished her "re cut diamonds" started in a workshop here in Roma in 2011

 Faye finished binding her "Cake Mix" Quilt started in 2011 (I think)  it is just stunning.

 Liz finished the cushion to match "Fletcher's Quilt"

Debra turned a Jelly Roll Race( from 2 years ago) into an Aussie Hero Quilt and it has been sent to a chaplain in Afghanistan.

 Tracey finished another whole burrow full of Rabbits.

Debra made more progress on the 'care quilt' that is now becoming a 'Aussie Hero Quilt"

 

and a few of us joined other members of Roma Patchwork to make new UFOs (joking).  

We participated in an "All the Wave" workshop with Julie Latcham (front right) of Cow Paddocks Patchwork .

Cecily (Back left), Melanie (Back 2nd from right), Leanne (back right) and Debra (front left) made sure UFO craft were very well represented.

Well it is craft again tonight, so who knows what we will achieve.

Constructive, Creative & even some finishes.

The last few months have seen many of our ladies being ULTRA constructive.

Gayle finished Rachel's quilt.  It looks AMAZING

 

and because she is such a lovely Mum, Gayle made a matching cushion too.

(oops I just realised the photo is completely upside down - sorry)

Here is Gayle with the quilt.  I think she should be very proud of herself.

Well done Gayle.

 

 Proof we are constructive, Cecily is binding, Olivia is talking  unfolding fabric to iron.

 Leanne is talking (yep) and Liz is having dinner? (Sometimes turning up is as much as we can do)  We wouldn't have it any other way.

 Cecily showed off her finished Batik quilt, it has gone to its new owner already.

A second Cecily finish in very non-Cecily colours.  This is almost the first quilt that Cecily has made exactly to the pattern and using the fabrics specified in the pattern.  This is uncommon as Cecily usually changes up the fabrics to suit her tastes and the pattern to suit the degree of challenge she wants.

 

Debra started work on a care quilt using fabrics from the scrap bins.  I see a nautical theme going on here.

 As we left, we almost took this visitor home with us.  How Tracey managed not to get a spider imprinted in her face I do not know.  He had made his web between my car and the closest tree.  Glad we convinced him to stay behind.
