Just Because

Now you have read about the party and the Gift for Cecily this will show you the close ups of the great stitcheries.

 Yes this may have caused tears. We have all been a bit worried about Cecily of late and decided as we couldn't fix the problem, we could make a quilt to make the problem seem a little better.

We all know Cecily LOVES her garden & her books, things that make her house a home, so we decided to focus on these beautiful things.  Most of our ladies stitched an embroidery - some for the 1st time ever and we pieced together this quilt.

And the whole quilt top.  (Sorry about the angle of the photo).  When we handed it to Cecily on Tuesday it was borderless, she popped the red border on today and has some 'leftover' pieces to put around the outside..

Show and Tell time ladies!!

            Now another month has rolled around and we haven't seen much show and tell from you guys and I know you have all have something to show as I see you each Tuesday busily crafting away.  So if you have a completed project come on over and tell us all about it as we love to hear and see what you have been up to.  If you a little shy, hey I’ll go first.....

Here is a photo of quilt I made for my mother-in-law.  Now this quilt was made using a layer cake called “Summer Breeze” with all its beautiful greens, yellows, blues and white.  Makes you feel like you are in a green field with beautiful yellow flowers flowing in the gentle breeze on a lovely clear blue summer’s day.  The patternI used to create this quilt was from a YouTube tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Company called Double Slice Layer Cake.

A quilt layout was decided.... and does anyone have a HAMMER???

As we posted a couple of days ago HERE  Debra was trying to choose a layout for her layer cake quilt.  We had 3 choices "diagonals, chevrons or circles" however as Debra didn't love any of them she moved all the pieces around again and here is the sewn result.

 Leanne was making cushions for her daughter to use at her job in the Daycare Centre and required a hammer.  We asked the room "does anyone have a hammer with them?"  Can you believe that no one did??? shock of all horrors, what do you use when you cant find a hammer?????

Tuesday Night + Weekend Crafting..........Whoo Hoo!!

Well here we again, craft night.  Tuesday night was a quiet night with only 2 ladies but still plenty to chat about.  I got a quick lesson in blogging so I can try and blog the happenings of UFO craft nights and anything else that may be happening in the crafting world.  After the quick lesson it was getting a bit late to get the machine out and continue my planned Tuesday night project but I was very busy on the weekend doing odd patchwork projects.  I was quiet pleased with myself by the end of the weekend managing to get some projects done that I had been putting off because new and exciting projects were calling my name (darn that internet surfing).  I started with sewing on the binding of two quilts, putting the final boarders on a quilt ready to be quilted, put the last of few blocks together ready to assemble that quilt in a pleasing display and last but not least trying out some decorative stitches (from my new sewing machine J) on a rag quilt that I am assembling for my daughter (who is suppose to be doing this project but lost interest :\ ), so all in all one very pleased quilter J.  The sewing room is starting to look a little bare I just may have to fill it up some fabric, no, no, no, I can’t do that remember UFO busting year (maybe one or two pieces can’t hurt he, he, he).

As for Ms D she had quite a product night arranging her “Little Apples” quilt into many different variations, check out the photo below of one of her many quilt styles and leave a comment of what you think.  I kind of like the chevron look I wish I had taken more photos of other variations for comparison, can’t wait for the finished quilt top to see what style she finally did decide on.

Look what was on the table

Last night saw Cecily and Olivia being busy, busy, busy and Debra binding, binding, binding.

Cecily's 2011 flood quilt is now pinned ready for quilting.

 Olivia's "Serendipity" quilt layout was chosen  Olivia said that this is a 2 for 1 quilt. 

(She only had one of the two there last night.)

 Debra was binding an Aussie Hero Quilt but we didn't get a photograph.

Now as for Colleen (our absentee UFO Crafter) after catching up with us at the markets last weekend, she went home and whipped up this quilt top on Sunday.  Colleen decided this will be an Aussie Hero Quilt too.  It is great and I think the soldier will be happy to sleep "Under the Southern Cross"
